Scot Banner

53 T - 1979 / 1980

This must surely hold the record for the smallest Flying Scot ever to have come out of Alexandra Parade.

Not many 16" frame / 20" wheel Scots's exist, and this is one of the few and probably amongst the last examples to have been built.

Built to order, and thought to have been by Rattray's framebuilder Alex Cross, it was sold in December 1979. The frame is a scaled down version of the full-size Flying Scot's, using the same Reynolds 531 butted tubing as the larger model, as can be seen by the tubing transfer at the rear of the seat tube.

It was equipped by the owners Dad with Campagnolo Nuovo Record derailleurs, Specialites TA Cranks (46/36) Weinmann sidepull brakes, Campagnolo hubs (28-hole), pedals and seat pin, Cinelli Bars, and a 3t stem.

Some idea of just how small this machine is, can be seen on the left, by comparison with the wheel of Dad's full-size Scot !
